Your perfect day out and about in Simon's Town...
Set off from The Tides with a short stroll to nearby Fisherman’s beach. Blow away the cobwebs and hop in for a refreshing swim. Meander along grassy pathways to discover hidden rock pools and beaches. Continue on a little way up the road to visit the penguin colony at Boulders Beach. Afterwards, wander around the historic side and main streets of Simon’s Town where you can stop for lunch or dinner at one of the many cafes or restaurants before browsing quaint shops, museums and heritage sites.
At Simon’s Town jetty book an activity from sailing or fishing, to boat trips out to Seal Island, or a whale watching tour. Linger on until evening and watch the locals’ fish for squid from the harbour wall before returning to The Tides for a sundowner. In season, keep an eye out for Southern Right and Humpback whales in False Bay on their annual migration.

Simon’s Town
Simon’s Town is lined with beautiful coves and beaches. It offers a variety of quaint shops, museums, cafes and restaurants. Visit the harbour for water bound activities. Take a stroll through the old back streets of the village to discover a maze of self-guided walks up steps steeped in history where you will discover hidden gems from what was once known as the Malay Quarter, to picturesque houses, bougainvillea lined streets and majestic views the higher you climb. Harbour Bay Mall just before you enter Simon's Town has grocery shops and restaurants.

Boulders Beach Penguin Colony
Boulders Beach and Penguin Colony. A gentle boardwalk stroll in the Nature Reserve that skirts the penguin colony with viewing decks onto their beach. Access to Boulders Beach. Give 1 – 2 hours to view the penguins or longer if you wish to relax and swim at Boulders Beach.

Cape Point
Drive to Cape Point Nature Reserve. Take the vernacular or walk up to the lighthouse for awe-inspiring views. Visit viewing points while keeping an eye out for The Cape of Good Hope sign. You may even encounter ostrich and baboons along this dramatic piece of coastline. Give 2 hours or longer if you wish to explore the walks and beaches of the Nature Reserve. Distance: 10km
Whale Watching
Watch for whales in season on their annual migration to False Bay from the comfort of your room or balcony/veranda at The Tides. Alternatively book a whale watching boat trip from Simon’s Town Harbour. (Season: August – November).
